Skills for Academics, Vocational and English Studies

Program Description: The SAVES program is sponsored by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Refugee Services Program, and is funded solely with grants from the U.S. Department of Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement. SAVES was established to address the specific English language, academic, and vocational needs of the refugee/asylee/parolee population. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses, English Literacy for Career and Technical Education (ELCATE) curricula, Citizenship classes, General Education Development (GED), as well as other high priority Vocational/ Technical courses, were developed to meet the needs of this population.

SAVES Refugee Program is a FREE of charge educational program designed to meet the instructional and employment needs of eligible ADULT (16+) refugees/asylees from all over the world. The SAVES Refugee Program is administered through Adult Education Centers. Eligible refugee/asylee students receive scholarships to study vocational courses such as:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • EKG Aide
  • Hemodialysis Technician
  • Home Health Aide
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing Assistant
  • Patient Care Assistant
  • Patient Care Technician
  • Phlebotomy Aide

M-DCPS S.A.V.E.S Refugee Program clients revive free:
